The rooftop bar, arrival garden, and wellness sanctuary in The White Lotus season 3 belong to several hotels on two different islands. To discover them without spending your vacation repacking, here is a ten-night itinerary: three nights in Bangkok, six in Koh Samui, and one final night in Bangkok. Phuket is an optional three-night extension, with specific choices between staying in the filming locations, booking an experience at a hotel, and activities around these stops.

The fictional resort’s hotels

The series’ geography can be misleading when it comes time to book. The Thai White Lotus brings together locations that, in reality, may require a flight to get from one to another. The Tourism Authority of Thailand confirms three filming destinations: Bangkok, Koh Samui, and Phuket. You can therefore plan a trip around the series by choosing a few addresses, without searching for a room that would give you access to every setting.

In Koh Samui, the Four Seasons is one of the properties highlighted on the official TAT itinerary devoted to the season. Its hillside villas and private pools offer the upscale island stay many viewers are looking for. Other spaces at the fictional resort come from Anantara hotels: in Bophut, the group identifies, among other things, the lobby, the tree-lined entrance, and several service areas; in Lawana, it confirms the Singing Bird Lounge.

The Wellness Sanctuary, spa, and Belinda’s room were filmed at Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas. In Bangkok, Mandarin Oriental also confirms its participation, including the Bamboo Bar and Oriental Suite. The hotel describes the Authors’ Lounge as a place that inspired Mike White while he was writing; that detail alone is not enough to attribute a specific scene to it.

This distinction helps you choose how to spend your money. A villa, an evening at the bar, and a treatment cater to three different interests. The spaces used, occupied rooms, and private facilities remain subject to each property’s rules; a filming location is not an open-access visitor route.

How to divide the ten nights

We recommend starting with three nights in Bangkok to recover from the international journey and have two full days, then spending six nights in Koh Samui to alternate outings with time at the hotel. The final night in Bangkok provides a buffer between the island journey and your return flight. This is a suggested itinerary, to be adjusted to the actual times available.

The schedule therefore spans eleven days: arrival in Bangkok on day one; heritage sites and the river on days two and three; transfer to Samui on day four; exploring the island from days five to nine; return to Bangkok on day ten; and international departure on day eleven. Keep the arrival and transfer days light. You can fit in a late lunch or a stroll if the timing works, without having to make a paid activity immediately after getting off the plane.

For the six island nights, one address is enough. For a stay of this length, changing hotels makes sense mainly if you genuinely want to stay in two different settings: a few nights in a secluded villa, followed by a base geared toward outings in Bophut, for example. If so, factor in packing, room check-out and access times, and the transfer between the two.

Phuket can be added before the final return to Bangkok, bringing the trip to thirteen nights. If you only have a week, two bases are still preferable: two nights in Bangkok, four in Samui, and one buffer night before your long-haul flight, depending on your ticket.

Bangkok and the Mandarin Oriental

A base on the banks of the Chao Phraya gives the first leg a sense of coherence: the river visually connects the hotel district with the temples, piers, and riverside neighborhoods. The Mandarin Oriental lets you stay at a property genuinely associated with the series. You can also choose another riverside hotel and book a separate service at the Mandarin Oriental, after confirming that outside visitors are welcome.

On the first day, focus mainly on settling in and having a meal near your room. After an overnight flight, a late booking at the bar leaves little flexibility if your plane is delayed. Instead, schedule the series-related visit for your second evening or a time slot on the third day. The same applies to a spa treatment or a meal with strict cancellation terms.

The Bamboo Bar is a venue identified in the official filming announcement. When booking, ask about that day's opening hours, dress code, rules for minors, and whether you can reserve a table. A special cocktail announced at the season launch in 2025 is not a promise that it is still on the current menu.

The Mandarin Oriental spa is across the river. Build the crossing and appointment into your plans rather than squeezing a treatment between tightly scheduled departures. If you book a suite for its connection to filming, ask for its exact name: a room in the same hotel does not automatically have the décor of the Oriental Suite.

The temples and the Chao Phraya

Your first full day can bring together the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, and Wat Arun. This route makes room for Bangkok's heritage before your beach stay. Set aside most of the day for it, followed by a simple evening; walking and getting around can be tiring in the heat, especially at the start of the trip.

If you would rather leave the logistics to someone else, the selected private tour combines these three sites with an English-speaking guide. The listing says five to six hours, with admission included. A private vehicle depends on the option you book; confirm transport and pickup from your central hotel before paying. Lunch must be arranged separately.

The value of this option lies in the guidance between sites and the explanations: it complements a series-inspired trip with a day devoted to the city. No access to the Mandarin Oriental or the Samui hotels is included. Wear clothing suitable for religious sites, and ask the guide for the specific instructions for that day's stops.

Keep your other day in Bangkok more open. A river outing lets you see the banks before choosing a neighborhood for lunch. Chinatown can fill part of the late afternoon, taking the journey back to your hotel into account. Avoid stringing together a fine-dining lunch, tastings, and a booked dinner: leaving one meal unplanned makes it easier to extend your stroll.

Choosing your neighborhood in Samui

In Samui, your room's location matters as much as its connection to filming. Bophut suits those who want to pair a beachfront hotel with the restaurants and walks of Fisherman’s Village. Anantara Bophut lets you stay at one of the properties whose spaces helped create the series' resort. Check the room's exact location and the useful walking routes for your evenings.

Lawana, in the Chaweng area, is worth considering if the Singing Bird Lounge is your main destination. You can spend an evening there while keeping another base on the island, provided your reservation is accepted for non-residents. In that case, group the bar and dinner in the same area and arrange your ride back.

Four Seasons is in Angthong. Its hillside villas and private pools make the stay more about time spent at the property. Before choosing a category, ask about the terrace layout, the view, travel between the villa, restaurants, and beach, and internal transport options if you have difficulty walking. These details affect day-to-day life, especially on a stay of several nights.

For a first visit, we would favor Bophut if you want to go out often and vary your meals. A villa at Four Seasons makes more sense when afternoons at the hotel are a priority for the trip. In either case, calculate the cost of transfers to the other venues. A cheaper room far from all your planned stops may mean more rides and more time on the road.

Bophut and the Singing Bird Lounge

The day after arriving in Samui, leave the morning free of fixed departures. You can explore your beach, get your bearings, and check the reservations for the days ahead. A walk to Fisherman’s Village is an easy first outing from Bophut; for the market, ask locally how it operates during your stay rather than building the whole day around an assumed schedule.

Anantara's announcement clearly distinguishes the roles of the two Samui hotels. Bophut provided the arrival garden and lobby, as well as service areas that are not tourist attractions. If you want to recognize the entrance or common areas, ask reception what is accessible as part of your stay or reservation. Ask about taking photographs on site, while respecting other guests.

At Lawana, the venue to keep in mind is the Singing Bird Lounge, nestled among the trees with a sea view. Plan this as a bar visit: confirm opening hours, whether you need a reservation, what you will order, and how you will get there. There is no reason to assume that a booking will let you roam freely through the villas or all the resort facilities.

You can schedule the two visits on different days. A visit to Bophut during a stroll and an evening at Lawana leave more time to enjoy each place than a circuit of several hotel lobbies. If you are already staying at one of these properties, simply enjoy its common areas during your stay.

Paddleboarding and free days

To complement the hotel visits with a short activity, we selected a stand-up paddleboarding trip at sunrise in Bangrak. The listed departure point is on the beach in front of Secret Garden Beach Resort. The structured listing gives a total duration of two hours; the description says around an hour and a half of paddling. Confirm the exact start time, listed as around six o'clock, and when you need to arrive.

The guide speaks English, and equipment is provided. According to the description we consulted, the activity is for adults and teenagers aged fifteen and over, with an introduction available for beginners. Transfers depend on your hotel's area: Bophut, Bangrak, Chaweng, and Choeng Mon are among the listed pickup zones. If you are staying in a villa at Four Seasons, arrange transport to the departure point; its area is not on the pickup list.

Schedule this activity for the middle of your stay, after a normal night's sleep and before a lightly planned day. You can return for breakfast and then keep the afternoon free for the beach or a treatment. An early start does not pair well with a late night at Lawana the evening before. Sea conditions remain a deciding factor: ask how the operator handles postponements or cancellations.

You could devote another day to Ang Thong, an archipelago of forty-two islands presented by the tourism authority. Before booking an excursion, check that the park is open, as well as the port, boat, and actual itinerary. A stop with a hike, a kayaking trip, and a long boat ride do not require the same level of effort. We leave this day optional to preserve a fallback on land.

The extension to Mai Khao, Phuket

The three-night extension in Phuket is mainly for travelers for whom the Wellness Sanctuary is an important stop. Anantara confirms that Mai Khao hosted the spa and Belinda’s room. Book the property for its setting and the experience you want, and ask which areas are actually accessible. A room in the same commercial category does not guarantee the exact location shown on screen.

Mai Khao is in northern Phuket. It works well as an end-of-trip stay focused mainly on the hotel and treatments. If you plan several outings elsewhere, check travel times before setting your meal and appointment schedules. A day exploring the Old Town can complement this stop; give it its own time slot rather than squeezing in a quick detour between leaving Samui and arriving at the hotel.

For these three nights, plan an arrival day to settle in, a day with a treatment or beach time, and then a free day or a day in the city. You can move the Old Town outing depending on the weather and how much you feel like leaving the resort. Book treatments once you have confirmed your transport times, so you can keep an appointment you can actually make.

The “White Lotus” packages announced in 2025 should be reconfirmed with the hotel. Their duration, inclusions, and launch prices do not prove they are still available. If adding Phuket makes your trip too long, the two Anantara hotels in Samui and the riverside stay in Bangkok already let you visit several locations identified by their owners.

Getting between stops

First, look up the connections available for your dates, then adjust the number of nights. A route drawn on a map does not mean a direct flight operates every day between two islands. Compare schedules, possible connections, baggage allowances, and change conditions before paying for non-refundable hotels.

For Samui, distinguish between arriving at the island’s airport and traveling via the mainland and then taking a ferry. The latter involves vehicles, a port, and additional ferry schedules. For a ten-night upscale trip, compare the end-to-end cost: baggage, transfer to the port, crossing, transfer to your room, and time spent traveling. Saving on the ticket alone can change the whole transfer day.

If you have separate tickets, we recommend keeping the final night in Bangkok as a buffer before your long-haul flight. It gives you more options to rearrange plans than a tight connection on the same day. If you have a single ticket, check the carrier’s connection and assistance terms; protection depends on the contract you purchased.

Around Samui, book evening rides with a flexible return time or a clearly agreed alternative. For an early-morning paddle appointment, confirm the pickup the night before. In Bangkok, also account for the correct airport and travel time from your chosen neighborhood. A room near the river can be pleasant without being close to your terminal.

Budget and bookings

The room will often be the deciding expense, especially if you want a private pool or a category associated with filming. To compare two quotes, use the same dates, number of guests, and included meals. Check taxes, service charges, breakfast, transfers, cancellation terms, and any charges for children. A villa’s starting rate is not enough to establish the cost of your six nights.

A balanced plan could reserve a few nights at the property that appeals to you most, with days set aside to enjoy it, and keep a simpler base in Bangkok. You could also stay at just one hotel in Samui and book an evening at Lawana. The choice depends on how central the filming locations are to your trip: an extended stay at a property or a few specific bookings.

Proceed in this order: main transport and buffers; rooms; the bookings that motivate the trip; additional activities. For dinner or a treatment outside your hotel, get written confirmation specifying who can be accommodated and what the service includes. Mention allergies, reduced mobility, or minors when booking so you receive an answer that applies to your group.

The two activities suggested here have cards linked to their main listings: price, currency, rating, and reviews are shown when available. They are separate from hotel bookings. The Bangkok tour covers heritage; the paddle outing is in Bangrak. Neither product provides access to private The White Lotus filming locations.

Weather and pace

Samui is in the Gulf of Thailand, while Phuket is on the Andaman Sea. Before combining them in one trip, check forecasts for each coast and for your travel days by sea. General advice about “the Thai islands” is no substitute for local information. The Thai Meteorological Department publishes bulletins and marine forecasts to consult when making decisions close to departure.

Keep sea outings on dates that can be moved when the booking terms allow. In Samui, a backup day could include a meal, some rest, and a treatment confirmed at the hotel. In Bangkok, leave a little flexibility between visits and appointments to account for heat and rain. Booking every available time slot makes these adjustments harder.

Travel comfort also depends on deliberately simple days: a leisurely breakfast after paddling, an afternoon in the villa, a walk without an excursion departure. These moments let you enjoy the amenities that led you to choose the hotel while giving outings the time they need. Over six nights in Samui, two planned days and a few booked evenings already make for a substantial itinerary.

FAQ

What is the actual hotel in The White Lotus season 3?

The resort in the series is made up of several properties. In Samui, the official itinerary highlights Four Seasons, among other locations, while Anantara confirms filming in Bophut and at Lawana’s Singing Bird Lounge. Belinda’s spa and room are at Mai Khao in Phuket. Bangkok’s Mandarin Oriental also took part. Your choice therefore depends on the setting and type of stay that interest you.

Can you visit the hotels without staying overnight?

You need a suitable reservation or permission for each property. A bar, restaurant, or spa may accept outside visitors depending on its rules and availability, which you should confirm directly. That reservation covers the service you purchased; villas, rooms, service areas, and other facilities remain subject to the hotel’s rules. Ask exactly which areas are accessible before you go.

How many days should you allow for this itinerary?

The main itinerary is ten nights and eleven days: three nights in Bangkok, six in Samui, and one final night in Bangkok. This leaves two full days at the start in the capital and several days on the island without a transfer. The three-night Phuket extension brings the trip to thirteen nights. Flight schedules may require an additional night.

Should you add Phuket to Koh Samui?

Add Phuket if Mai Khao, its spa, and the setting for this part of the production make the extra travel worthwhile for you. Three nights let you spread out settling in, a treatment, and a possible city outing. For a shorter trip, Bangkok and Samui already offer several verified locations. The two islands are separate stops, with transport between them to book.

What budget should you allow for the filming locations?

Request hotel quotes for your exact dates and room categories, then add meals, treatments, and transfers. The differences between a room, a pool villa, and an identified suite are too large to give a single budget that accurately represents these trips. One booked evening at a filming-location hotel and six nights there involve very different expenses. Activity cards separately display the available commercial details.

Do the suggested activities include the hotels from the series?

No. The private Bangkok tour includes the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, and Wat Arun, with transport terms depending on the option selected. The paddle outing takes place in Bangrak, Samui. These activities complement the stops with a heritage visit and an outing on the water. Rooms, treatments, meals, and access to filming-location properties must be booked separately.

Is this itinerary suitable for families?

Both bases allow for flexible days, but each booking must be appropriate for the children’s ages. Check the safety of private pools, sleeping arrangements, travel times, and bar policies. The selected paddle activity is listed as suitable for ages fifteen and up. With younger children, replace it with a free morning and adapt the temple day.

When should you visit Bangkok, Samui, and Phuket?

The choice calls for looking separately at the two coasts and your priorities: beach, boating, or a primarily hotel-based stay. Before booking a sea excursion, check whether the site is open, the rescheduling conditions, and the local forecast. If your trip is already set, keep a backup day for an inland activity. No period guarantees calm seas at every stop.
