Two hours free before your session are not the same as a morning with no tennis. To make the most of Paris during Roland-Garros, start with your ticket, leave time to get to the stadium and choose just one outing at a time. A garden near Auteuil, a photo session at the Trocadéro, a historical walk or lunch in the Marais: here’s how to plan a two-day stay without missing the matches.
Roland-Garros Dates in 2027
The official website announces the next edition from 17 May to 6 June 2027. These dates cover the tournament as a whole: before choosing your days, wait for the detailed schedule and check which session matches the ticket you bought. The bookings presented here are for Paris activities independent of the tournament. They do not provide access to the stadium or matches.
In late spring, a walk, a museum and a meal can make for very different stays depending on how much tennis you plan to see. If you’re coming to follow the action for a long time and move from court to court based on your access, set aside a full day at the stadium. If you have an evening session, the morning offers more opportunities to explore a neighborhood. In either case, book the sporting event that motivates your trip first.
We’d prioritize one guided activity over the two days, complemented by a free walk. That way, you can explore an area with a guide or photographer, then keep time for meals, getting around and enjoying the tournament. The four activities selected range from one hour to three and a half hours; their different durations have a real impact on how you plan your day.
Free Time Between Matches
Start by adding the time you want to be at the stadium to your itinerary, taking into account the instructions on your ticket. Then work backward from the end of the activity you’re considering: add travel time, the walk to the entrance and a personal buffer. For a two-hour tour, you’ll also need to meet the guide before it starts. Your calculation should cover the entire outing.
For a first visit, we’d allow an extra hour of flexibility before the time you want to arrive at the stadium, in addition to the travel time you’ve calculated. This is an organizational tip, not an official access time. Adjust it based on your mobility, how well you know Paris and the information provided by the tournament. Check the route for the actual date of your trip; roadworks and traffic restrictions may change your journey.
If you have a short window of free time, stay near Auteuil or choose an outing that’s easy to cut short. A one-hour photo session becomes an option when you have a wider window that includes travel. A guided walk lasting two hours or more calls for a free morning. For a three-and-a-half-hour food tour, set aside half a day for the neighborhood and avoid scheduling a stadium arrival right afterward with no time to spare.
A break between two matches is not, by itself, enough time to go sightseeing around the city. Match duration and the order of matches make that window unpredictable. Before leaving the stadium, check the re-entry rules that apply to your ticket. Our recommendations are therefore mainly for before your session, after it, or during a half-day without tennis.
The Auteuil Greenhouses Garden
Jardin des Serres d’Auteuil makes it possible to enjoy a short walk without crossing Paris. Its historic greenhouses feature late-19th-century metalwork architecture, set around a formal garden and botanical collections. Palms, ferns, ficus and other tropical plants offer something different from the courts and stands. According to the City of Paris, individual admission to the garden and greenhouses is free.
During Roland-Garros, access routes change. The City says the entrances on avenue Gordon-Bennett and boulevard d’Auteuil are closed during the tournament; the other entrances, including the passage through square des Poètes, remain accessible. Check your entrance on the municipal map before setting out. Being close on a map does not mean you can go directly from a public area into the sporting grounds.
We’d save this walk for when you feel like stretching your legs without committing to a long visit. You can look around the greenhouses and flower beds, then head to your next appointment. Check the opening hours for your spring visit: the winter hours posted won’t apply to a stay in May. Accessibility is partial, particularly in some greenhouse corridors; wheelchair users and visitors with strollers should plan their route in advance.
The Trocadéro Photo Shoot
If you’d like to bring home portraits from your trip, the private photo session at the Trocadéro is a compact option. The meeting point is on the esplanade, as directed by the provider, with the Eiffel Tower as a backdrop. For one hour, the photographer will guide your poses and take your pictures. This outing suits a couple, a family or friends who want group photos together.
The product listing includes forty retouched high-resolution photos, as well as a format designed for sharing online. French is listed among the available languages. Select it explicitly when booking and discuss any practical expectations with the photographer: group composition, whether children will be present and the type of portraits you’re looking for. You’ll make your own way to the meeting point; transfers from your hotel and meals are not included.
The activity takes place around the view of the Eiffel Tower. It does not include going up the tower. Book a separate ticket if you also want to visit the monument, and give that visit its own place in your itinerary. If your trip is focused on Roland-Garros, we’d simply keep the photos and a break in the area rather than adding another timed booking.

View activityThe Latin Quarter Tour
The private Latin Quarter tour lasts two hours and fifteen minutes. It starts near the Fontaine Saint-Michel and ends at Place de la Contrescarpe. This gradual route reveals another side of Paris: old streets, religious buildings, traces of Roman baths and places linked to university life. The advertised route includes Saint-Séverin, Cluny, the Sorbonne and the Panthéon.
The guide speaks English. The private format will appeal to travelers who want to ask questions and explore with their own group. When choosing this walk, focus on its historical thread and the walks between the sights. The verified inclusions cover the guide and private tour; they do not mention paid admission tickets to the Panthéon or the Cluny Museum.
The tour ends at Place de la Contrescarpe, where you can look for lunch in the neighborhood before heading back. Keep the meal simple if you need to reach the stadium afterward: account for time at the table as well as time on the tour. We would choose this option on an evening-session day, keeping the afternoon fairly open so you can return to your accommodation if needed, then head back out toward Auteuil.

View activityMontmartre in Half a Day
The selected Montmartre walk starts near Blanche metro station and lasts two hours, with an English-speaking guide and a maximum of ten participants. It follows a route from the Moulin Rouge area up to the Sacré-Cœur, passing several places associated with the neighborhood’s artistic life: the Bateau-Lavoir, Moulin de la Galette and Place du Tertre are all on the advertised itinerary.
This option provides a route and commentary that connect places you might otherwise visit separately. The Moulin Rouge is viewed from the outside; the show is not included. After the tour, you can spend more time on the hill or head back down for lunch, depending on how much room there is in your schedule. Keep that decision open if you have a sporting event later.
The hills and cobbled streets are important factors in choosing this tour. The provider advises against it for wheelchair users and families with strollers. With young children, also consider the walking time after an already long day in the stands. We would schedule Montmartre on a genuinely free morning, or even on departure day if your transport leaves enough time, rather than between closely spaced commitments.

View activityThe Marais Food Tour
Secret Food Tours’ private food tour in Le Marais combines a walk with tastings. Its structured duration is three hours and thirty minutes: that is how long we would allow when planning the day. The meeting point is at Saint-Paul, and guests are asked to arrive fifteen minutes before departure. Commentary is in English, and transfers from your accommodation are not included.
The itinerary includes a selection of breads and cheeses, a pastry, a croque-monsieur, falafel, sweets and wine, with a non-alcoholic drinks option. The content may vary depending on the businesses and circumstances. The appeal lies in having a meal spread across several stops: you discover local products and streets during the same outing. Schedule it in place of a separate lunch.
Dietary requirements should be addressed before booking. The listing accepts vegetarians, but says it cannot accommodate vegan or gluten-free diets. For an allergy or another restriction, contact the operator to get an answer suited to your situation. This will help you determine whether the proposed tastings are suitable for everyone in your group.
We would book this activity on a half-day without tennis, or early enough before an evening session. It is particularly suited to a group that wants to share a guided meal rather than choose several places one after another. After three and a half hours of walking and stops, a break at your accommodation may also be welcome before heading to the tournament.

View activityThe Two-Day Itinerary
If you have a daytime tennis session planned, keep the first morning free so you can get to the stadium without rushing. A short walk through the Serres d’Auteuil can fit in before arrival, if the opening times and your ticket allow it. After the tennis, keep dinner flexible enough to accommodate your actual departure time. A restaurant that requires you to arrive at a very specific time can be inconvenient if you want to stay and watch a match.
The next day can be set aside for your main Paris outing: the Latin Quarter for history, Montmartre for its artistic route, or Le Marais for a meal on the move. Choose according to your interests and when you need to head back. If you have a train or flight in the afternoon, a shorter photo session may be easier to arrange, as long as you account for travel and collecting your luggage.
With an evening session, a guided morning tour offers a different way to divide up the day. Finish with lunch, then leave yourself some free time before the stadium. The second day can be lighter, with a walk along the riverbanks or a break in a garden. These are planning templates: they assume neither an official start time nor an official end time for the matches.
If you prefer a museum, set aside half a day for the Louvre. Its current schedule lists Tuesday as a closing day and late openings on Wednesday and Friday. Check the hours again for your May or June 2027 stay, and book a time slot. We would give it its own time slot rather than add it to the Latin Quarter tour or the meal in Le Marais.
Language, Weather, and Budget
The photo session is offered in French; the three selected guided walks advertise commentary in English. This distinction matters more than the language of the booking page. Then compare durations and inclusions: a private photographer, a private guide, a small group and a meal with tastings suit different preferences.
To work out your budget, add transport, any meals you still need and any monument tickets purchased separately to the activity price. Prices and ratings are shown in the linked listings when a recent snapshot is available. The final amount depends on the date, option and group size; an active listing does not guarantee availability during the tournament.
All four products reviewed advertise a full refund for cancellations made at least twenty-four hours before the scheduled departure. Check the applicable deadline on the confirmation for your purchase. A change to the tennis schedule does not automatically change your Paris booking. So keep a free outing alongside the activity you book, giving you room to adjust your stay without reorganizing everything.
Finally, these walks are outdoor activities. Wear suitable shoes and bring protection from rain or sun based on the forecast. If you have limited mobility, ask about the specific conditions of your chosen route: walking time, slopes, steps and opportunities to rest. A private tour makes it easier to discuss your needs with the operator in advance, but does not by itself guarantee accessibility.
FAQ
Answers to questions about dates, available time and booking.
What are the dates of Roland-Garros 2027?
The official website lists May 17 to June 6, 2027, for the tournament as a whole. Then check the detailed schedule and the ticket for your preferred session before choosing other activities. The Paris tours in this guide are booked separately and do not include any tennis matches.
Can you leave the stadium for an activity and then come back?
Check the readmission rules associated with your ticket before leaving the stadium. We do not recommend booking an outside activity based only on a break between two matches. Plan it before your first entry, after your session or during a tennis-free time slot when you can control the schedule.
Which activity should you choose if you only have two free hours?
Stay near Auteuil for a short walk, checking access to the Jardin des Serres d’Auteuil during the tournament. A photo session already lasts an hour at the Trocadéro and requires additional travel. So two hours available from your hotel or the stadium may not be enough for this booking.
Which booking offers commentary in French?
The private photo session at the Trocadéro lists French among the available languages. Select the corresponding time slot and language when booking. The Latin Quarter, Montmartre and Le Marais tours featured here are advertised with English-speaking guides.
What should you prioritize with children or a stroller?
A short, flexible walk makes it easier to keep pace with the children. At the Jardin des Serres d’Auteuil, some paths are inaccessible to strollers; the selected Montmartre tour is also not recommended for them. For a photo shoot or private tour, specify the children’s ages and the group’s needs before booking.
What should you plan for if it rains?
A half-day at a museum can replace an unstructured walk if you find a suitable time slot, after checking the opening day. For an activity you have already booked, check its weather policy and contact the operator; a shower does not automatically entitle you to a refund. The photo shoot allows for weather-related cancellation under the provider’s terms.
Should you book activities before buying tennis tickets?
Start by securing the tennis session around which you are organizing your stay. Then book an activity that fits around it, allowing for travel and extra time. If activity time slots are not yet open for 2027, keep your preferred option in mind without assuming the booking is confirmed.
Can you enjoy your stay with just one paid activity?
Yes. One experience chosen to match your main interest may be enough: portraits, history, an artistic neighborhood, or food. Add the Jardin des Serres d’Auteuil and some self-guided walks, while budgeting for transport and meals. This way, you can keep part of the itinerary flexible around the matches and how tired you feel.
